I realise that a lot of the crap landing on the beaches is from fishing boast but don't discount the amount that comes out of the waterways around Bangkok mainly the Chap Prayo River.I used to cross that regularly when working there and the amount of stuff coming out with the tide is incredible.During the floods there were mountains of it. Now it might spend weeks/months floating around in the sea at the whim of currents and prevailing wind conditions but eventually it finishes up on a beach somewhere. Have a friend living in Rayong, down past Pattaya, its a real garbage dump on that stretch of beach. Kho Samet is a real shocker too.

Which gets back to my original point the WHOLE country needs educating on proper disposal of waste and it wont happen in my lifetime. But the great efforts you are making down there might just rub off on a few people.Nice to see so many local Thai people concerned.

Our beaches are far from clean, the resorts only take care of their own little spot so we're starting a weekly 'Trash Hero' campaign to work on the rest of Suan Luang's beach.

Starting Monday June 8th at 07.30-08.00 @ Country Road we'll work on the beach area at the end of this soi and slowly clean all the way to Sunrise Resort over the coming months.

Turn up, join in, make a difference!

When we lived in Wallingford downstream from Oxford for a couple of years we attacked the litter on the Thames path. People gave us funny looks but we got that riverside path litter-free for a couple of kilometres.

We have almost decided on going to Proud Thai in Bang Krut this coming February. We'll clean up our little stretch of beach (except for dog mess).

Thanks to those that joined our first weekly beach cleanup this morning - we collected ten sacks of garbage in an hour (including one of the "dont litter" signs which made its way into the ocean).

Thanks to Country Road for providing the transport and disposal.

Here is the result - a clean beach!

There is a LOT more to do so we'll meet every Monday morning @ 07.30 and clean for an hour since it starts to get hot thereafter.

Another great effort by Bangsaphan's Trash Heroes today, we cleaned between Thepparat School and Sunrise Resort. A lot of trash here, mostly from people who have thrown it from their vehicles onto the beach. Got some funny looks from the fishing hut as we went past and cleaned up all of their crap.

We will start at Why Not next Monday at 07.30 and work north, this section hasn't been done since February.

If you are interested in sponsoring our movement by providing one of the above please get in touch: info @ bangsaphanguide.com

Another great cleanup this Monday, over 70kg collected from a stretch of beach we did only 4 months ago.
