Bang Berd beach

Post by buksida » 20 Apr 2010 14:55

Took a trip to Bang Berd recently and had a feed at one of the restaurants there. Then went for a drive along the royal beach, this is a great spot for a picnic (as there is nothing else there), you won't see another soul all day!

We visited the area when in BS - in fact we took the coast road all the way down to Chumphon on a couple of occassions - which Buksi has posted about elsewhere on here.

Head south on the road from BS yai to noi. At the crossroads where you turn right to BS noi, do a left instead and literally follow the road without turning off anywhere. Its a great drive. Martin at the BS guest house suggested it to us and there were many surprises past Bang Berd. A national park, the biggest sand dune in LOS, definitely an oddity - where I think the photos might have been taken near to (or just north of Bang Berd)? I'd like to know as well - then a good sized fishing village and pier, empty hidden bays, a great Wat with its own vision of heaven and hell and great views, more fishing villages and so on.

I loved the whole area and will be heading back asap!

Fantastic pics. Done that drive (was in the back of the family pickup to be precise). Wonderfully deserted, the whole area. So quiet. It's not Krabi or anything, but the fact that it's so quiet makes the simple beauty that is there really special.

Had another ride out to Bang Berd at the weekend, sadly the beautiful beach was still covered with trash ...

The water was a fantastic colour though ...

Looks like some development is going on, roads are getting widened and re-surfaced and huge plots of land cleared ...

Ban Bang Berd is one of the most attractive and beautiful beach in Bang Saphan mostly people visit this place on weekend. It is the last beach of Prachuab Khiri nestled near Tham Thong Beach of Chumphon.

I visited in Bangsaphan before couple of years ago. Bangsaphan has islands, miles of empty beaches, waterfalls, temples, caves, local markets, beach restaurants and natural surroundings teeming with wildlife. Further island are a couple of local waterfalls. They are make attractions for all tourists. The most attractive place in Bangsaphan is the Tum Marong cave and also the temple is a must visit when in the area, it is only a couple of Kilometers from the resort.

We were told some 12 months ago, when down there, that all the road widening and development is being done as a Royal Project. Lets hope so and its not being handed over to developers. Some great little fishing village with restaurants on bamboo poles hanging over the ocaen ....heaven

We went down there in November and the widening was still going on. No sign that we saw of any large developments. A beautiful place! We were just riding around and all of a sudden the roads turned into perfect ways!

Well certainly could be true can't see any other reason why they would put in such an extensive road building program if it wasn't for alrge project of some sort.
I initially thought it might be fish farms...one to watch.
