The grapevine leading to Colorado ....maybe they were jungle drums, not sure....
Seems to indicate that the Coral Hotel on Suan Luang has been sold...
Anyone know anything about this?
How are other establishments doing?
Anything known to have closed permanently (other then Country Road ....sniff....such beautiful ads....)??
thanks

Re: Coral Hotel -- rumors of ownership change?
Based on the total downturn of tourism you would almost have to give it away or as some are doing in Chiang Mai utilising them as a care facility for people with Dementia,Parkinsons etc or those no longer able to care for themselves. They have resident nursing staff and provide meals, far from cheap but seems a ready market with an ageing expat population.
Re: Coral Hotel -- rumors of ownership change?
Yes it has, seems they are doing a lot of remodeling to it.. Hardly a give away price, word around here is in the 80 million range. Now Thai owned, seems a lot of Bangkok Thais on weekends. Bang Saphan is doing better than most places in Thailand, coconut price is up. Other than the resorts not so much tourists dependent. Tourism will not be the same around here for many many years.
Re: Coral Hotel -- rumors of ownership change?
Yes, the Coral is now a Thai owned long weekend place only. Its desolate the rest of the time like every other resort here.
BS doesn't get much tourism for nine months of the year anyway so not a lot has changed. The 'high season', when most of these places make their money, will be a train wreck this year with the country still closed so expect more closures.
Country Road, Blue Bar, Bew Beem, not sure on Sabai Sabai. The resorts/hotels are still operating but they're only occupied on long weekends with domestic tourists (Bangkokians) - who don't go to any local establishments anyway.
