Interesting discussion on the origin of the word "Farang"....

"Actually the word is "Frank", as in, the Frankish Empire of Charlemagne, whose successor kingdoms are now France and Germany. The word "Farang" or a close equivalent is used all the way from North Africa to Indonesia, because it's the word the Arabs used for the Europeans who where invading them in the Levant - The Franks. The word has thus been used for white people in Asia since before Thais were in Thailand. Nothing to do with the French, or at least, the modern nation of France. "

Cat Cafe in Bangkok Thailand (playing and petting cats at the Purr Cat Cafe Club)

(As a one allergic to cats, I find this video morally repellent, but the BSG nonetheless tries to provide "fair and balanced" reporting. Hey, some people actually like these things and think they're "cute"--not for the squeamish!). For me this is the equivalent of a bar crawling the cobras, inviting you to "kick back and relax".

Push-button pleasure

A machine that delivers an orgasm at the push of a button has been patented in the US. The implant could help women whose lives have been blighted by an inability to achieve orgasms naturally.

Deaths of Quebec women in Thailand may have been caused by pesticide
(Implicated in several other deaths here as well--so be careful if the room is being treated for bedbugs).

Audrey and Noémi Bélanger died mysteriously while on holiday in 2012. Audrey and Noémi Bélanger set off on a trip through Thailand in 2012. Days after they arrived at the popular tourist destination of Phi Phi Island, a maid found the sisters dead in their hotel room. Both were covered in vomit, with their fingernails and toenails tinged blue.

The CBC/Radio-Canada investigation received a tip about what may have killed the sisters that points to a lethal pesticide called aluminum phosphide.

In Canada, the use of this pesticide is strictly regulated, and fumigators must get six months of training before they can handle it. Denis Bureau, a fumigation specialist in Quebec who is licensed to use it, told the fifth estate’s Mark Kelley that it could kill a human in less than two hours if the concentration is high enough.

“If you’re asleep in the room next to it or in the room where it’s been under fumigation, you’ll be dead in a few hours,” he said.

Assume room temperature
To ride the pale horse
To shuffle off this mortal coil
To take a dirt nap
Tango uniform
Wearing a pine overcoat

Def. "Competition":
An event in which there are more losers than winners. Otherwise it's
not a competition. A society based on competition is therefore primarily
a society based on losers. - John Ralston Saul
