Power/electric supply problems in Suan Luang
Re: Power/electric supply problems in Suan Luang
I am not in charge of cars or parking ,but I am telling you the houses are sold as I know both the builder and the sales person who sold them in both developments.
Re: Power/electric supply problems in Suan Luang
Happy Monday - Bang - power out again (between 1 and 2 pm like clockwork).
Will be ordering more panels and batteries shortly, this is now beyond a joke.

Hmm...
I'm liking the private grid idea...
Wondering if local microgrids might be solution...
If PEA is not going to address it...

Re: Power/electric supply problems in Suan Luang
Some around here (BS Resort at the end of our soi, Coral, iTalay) have bought their own transformers at great cost (several hundred thousand). But ... they still explode if unmaintained, and all the power ultimately comes from the substation on the main road so ... shit in = shit out.
Underground cabling direct from the substation to your own fully shielded transformer (which they don't seem to use in Thailand) is the only way, but that would cost way more than your house and probably more than a resort!
Its more cost-effective to go solar.

Day six - have a guess what has just happened ...
Today something different, we've got 180v instead of 230v (one phase down) - which is just as bad as a power cut.
Edit: I'll have to charge the solar batteries of the mains (whenever it comes back on) now as there isn't enough sun during the rainy season to power the system every day (which is what it has needed for the past week). I designed it as a backup for occasional outages - not to be used as our primary supply every day.
I think it would be easier to live in central Africa somewhere.

Definitely getting worse, we are starting to get them at night now. Again, solar lamps come in handy and if the batteries are full on the solar setup, it'll keep the place lit up, the internet router running, and a couple of fans on.
Re: Power/electric supply problems in Suan Luang
Monday morning transformer explosion like clockwork.
Re: Power/electric supply problems in Suan Luang
@cjsiam, welcome to BS, did you enjoy your first blackout yesterday afternoon? Get used to em!
Edit: and your second one this morning?

The power is out so often now that I actually bought a gas kettle so I don't have to miss out on my morning coffee fix!
Edit again: as things stand now, the power has gone off for 10 days out of the last 30 (since July 20), or 1 in every 3 days.

Re: Power/electric supply problems in Suan Luang
HaHa, yes I can relate to that. Even here in Hua Hin where outages are rare in comparison, I've had a gas powered kitchen (main kitchen is electric) built at the back of the house to be sure that I get my coffee fix

Re: Power/electric supply problems in Suan Luang
Wow...like 20 min, and ok...
Re: Power/electric supply problems in Suan Luang
They are getting quicker at fixing it (unless it is raining or a weekend) - but those monday morning bangs are as regular as clockwork.
It also happened yesterday afternoon so now the percentage of days with a power outage has increased to 40% over the past 30 days.

Re: Power/electric supply problems in Suan Luang
Yes, water has been either brown or on and off over the past few days. They're fixing pipes apparently. Hope you built a big backup water tank (though the pump wont work without power)!

Power out again today - you get the feeling they're trying for that 100% of days in a month achievement.
