Welcome to the forum serval, at the moment it is wet, very wet - it has rained every day for about a month. That said it can be clear in the mornings (check the weather map on the right for instant updates).

I haven't seen any jellies washed up on the beach for a while so you should be ok for swimming.

This is usually pretty accurate, it changes every 15 minutes you can get the latest one by refreshing this link: http://www2.tmd.go.th/radar/chumphon/cmp240_latest.jpg

The only way to get the ocean conditions is to go and have a look down the beach!

Probably stupid question but how to read that radar/map?

That one has been playing up a little recently and doesn't always display properly, it usually shows cloud cover and precipitation (green = clouds, yellow = rain, red = monsoon!). It comes direct from the weather station so we can't do much about it.

This one is just for Thailand: http://www.sattmet.tmd.go.th/newversion/mergesat.html

And this one shows the bigger picture: http://www.weather.com/maps/geography/a ... mated.html

(green = clouds, yellow = rain, red = monsoon!).
The above was what I looked for. Thank you.

After a few days of hot sunny weather, it was not very nice to look at the radar this morning. Looks like the brollies are coming out again.

Out of interest, if red - monsoon, what does pale purple mean please? Or is that one in reserve for 2012?

The rain has held off so far - another beaut of a morning.

A big storm hit us this morning, lots of wind and rain - the sat images show it to be localised though so will hopefully move on soon: http://www.sattmet.tmd.go.th/newversion/mergesat.html

After the storms yesterday morning. There was quite a bit of damage to the beach. A new massage sala was blown to pieces and sent flying across the other side of the road. Why Not bar had a tree fall on it, making a pretty big hole in the roof. Thankfully it did not hit the house, where staff were sleeping. Sorry, did not have the camera with me yesterday.
Looks like another weather system coming through this morning, hopefully everyone has their building etc. tied down today!

This current cold spell is getting a few of us, high winds, high tides and low temperatures at night.

Probably the highest tides I've ever seen yesterday, the water breached the treeline and came inland around 2-3 meters, those with beachfront properties would have got very wet!

Waves up to 3-4 m along the coast according to the Bangkok Post web site.Few restaurants lost in Hua Hin. Hope everyone is safe in Bangsaphan and no loss of property.
